Take Control training
On behalf of Warwickshire Road Safety Unit and the Safer Roads Partnership in West Mercia, the M partnership has promoted a series of free and subsidised rider assessment courses. This mostly involved the issue of regular press stories to regional and specialist press, media and websites, but also included visits to motorcycle dealerships in the four participating counties to secure their support for the scheme. This ‘Dealer Engagement’ only works because we are bikers. We share the passion, we know the industry and being a part of the motorcycling ‘family’ ensures that Take Control is understood, respected and promoted to dealership customers, by dealership staff.
During a two year project more than 1000 motorcyclists participated on Take Control training; this has ensured that the funding, including DfT support was fully utilised.
Several specialist press editors and local celebrities have also participated on a full day of Take Control training.
the M partnership also secured the support of Britain’s second largest and fastest growing motorcycle and scooter insurers – 2010 British Superbike Championship sponsors, MCE Insurance. As well as offering a higher profile and strong association, MCE brokered a deal for discounted insurance premiums for both existing and new policyholders who complete Take Control training.
